Professional disciplines:
During their studies, in addition to general disciplines, students study the following professional disciplines: Botany with the basics of genetics, Crop production, Agriculture with the basics of herbology, Agricultural entomology and phytopathology, Agrochemistry and plant nutrition systems, Vegetable and fruit growing, Agropharmacology, Crop breeding and seed production, Forage and grassland production, Fundamentals of scientific research, Technologies of storage and processing of crop production with the basics of standardization, Agricultural machinery and machine use in crop production, Integrated protection, Change and project management, Organic technologies in crop production, Agroecology.
Career opportunities:
After completing their studies at the department, graduates can hold the following positions: Agronomist, Agricultural Technician, Agrochemist, Seed and Plant Protection Agronomist, Agricultural Expert, Agricultural Technologist for Processing of Crop Production, Inspector of Phytosanitary Control Service, Head of Laboratory for Monitoring of Soils and Quality of Crop Production, Head of Agricultural Enterprise.
The department has student scientific clubs called Young Agronomist and Young Fruit Grower, in which students are active participants.
The department actively cooperates with the State Ecological Inspectorate, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, research institutions in Ukraine and abroad, farms, agricultural holdings and other agricultural enterprises of various organizational and legal forms of ownership, leading world producers of plant protection products and fertilizers, where students have the opportunity to gain practical experience, participate in internships, training practices, and find employment.
Areas of research of the department:
- agronomy;
- intensification and biologization of agriculture;
- energy crops (introduction, innovative cultivation technologies);
- rational use of fertilizers and plant protection products in intensive, adaptive and biologically based crop cultivation technologies;
- Increasing the realization of the resource potential of plant varieties and hybrids, studying stress phenomena in plants and overcoming them in the context of climate change;
- food technologies.
International cooperation.
The department implements international cooperation with the State University named after M. V. Kuznetsov. Shimon Shimonovich in Zamość and the Agrarian University named after M. S. Grygorowski. Hugo Kollontai University in Krakow (Poland), where students have the opportunity to undergo semester studies and internships.
