Every year, on the third Saturday of September, the World Cleanup Day campaign is held. Students and staff of the Western Ukrainian National University joined the initiative.
On September 15-16, 2023, under the slogan “Let the sky be peaceful and Ukraine clean!” Ukraine has traditionally joined the World Cleanup Day along with 70 million participants in 191 countries.
The main goal is to create a culture of cleanliness, proper waste management and responsible consumption of resources among citizens, and to unite efforts for the sake of an environmentally friendly future.

Leonid Bytsyura, Head of the Department of Ecology and Health of ZUNU, said: “Everyone’s participation is important, especially in the face of environmental crises and daily environmental destruction. We must work together to restore the environment, develop a conscious civil society that meets social and environmental standards. It is very important to foster a culture of responsible waste management, take care of the environment and preserve natural resources. The ecosystem is the basis of our life, and we all have to contribute to its protection. We are grateful to everyone who is actively involved in this process and contributes to environmental restoration. We invite everyone to join the largest environmental movement in the country and work together to keep Ukraine’s nature cleaner!”
