Recently, held a seminar “Improving household energy sustainability: regulatory framework, technologies and practices of the European Union” as part of the Erasmus+ project (Jean Monnet line) 101085491 – EEACCCES – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH “European experience in climate change adaptation: the concept of energy security”.
The purpose of the seminar is to familiarize participants with the trends in the development of the energy sector in the European Union and Ukraine:
- the legal framework for ensuring the transition to clean energy and the use of renewable energy sources in the European Union and Ukraine as a way to increase household competitiveness, prevent climate change, and promote inclusive development;
- the peculiarities of implementing climate-neutral technologies in the post-COVID-19 and post-war “green” recovery of Ukraine;
- the practice of transition to clean, affordable and secure energy and smart energy infrastructure development in the European Union.
The seminar was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure of the Western Ukrainian National University in a mixed format. The seminar was attended by university students.
Olena Borysiak, project coordinator, director of the Educational and Research Center for Innovative Development and Training of ZUNU, introduced the purpose and objectives of the Erasmus+ project (Jean Monnet) 101085491 – EEACCCES – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH “European Experience in Adapting to Climate Change: The Concept of Energy Security”, in particular, noted the importance of applying climate-neutral measures to strengthen energy security. Vasyl Brych, the project implementer and director of the Educational and Research Institute of Innovation, Environmental Management and Infrastructure of ZUNU, addressed the participants with a welcoming message, emphasizing the trend of strengthening intersectoral cooperation on the use of renewable energy sources to prevent climate change.
During the seminar, project coordinator Olena Borysiak presented the results of a sociological survey “Adapting to Climate Change and Strengthening Energy Security: Using European Experience,” which aimed to determine the level of household awareness of the threats and consequences of climate change, and to use European experience in adapting to climate change through the digital transformation of energy management and the transition to renewable energy sources. The survey was conducted as part of the project.
