National seminar “Experience of implementing climate management training in the educational and professional program of higher education and the results of the activities of climate management centers”

Within the framework of the project 619119-EPP-1-2020-1-NL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “Synergy of educational, scientific, managerial and industrial components for climate management and climate change prevention” / CLIMAN (Erasmus+ Program), the National Seminar “Experience of implementing climate management training in the educational and professional program of higher education and the results of the activities of climate management centers” was held on May 27-29, 2024 in Lviv (Ukraine).based at Lviv Polytechnic National University). The project executors from the Western Ukrainian National University took part in the seminar CLIMAN Director of the Educational and Research Center for Innovative Development and Training Olena Borysiak, Deputy Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure Ulyana Tkach, and Head of the Department of Agribiotechnology Antin Shuvar.

The purpose of the seminar is to exchange experience between the Ukrainian project partners on the implementation of climate management training in the educational and professional program for the second (master’s) level of higher education and the organization of climate management centers.

During the seminar, participants took part in a discussion with experts on conducting climate management research in the European Union and Ukraine, visited the municipal organic waste composting station of the Green City Municipal Company and the construction site of the mechanical and biological complex for the handling and processing of solid waste in the city of Kyiv. Lviv.

The Ukrainian project partners from Lviv Polytechnic National University, KROK University, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, and Western Ukrainian National University presented the best practices of implementing climate management programs and climate management centers at universities. Olena Borysiak, Ulyana Tkach, and Antin Shuvar presented the Climate Management module, which consists of the following disciplines: Strategic Climate Management in Agriculture, Environmental Safety in Agriculture, Adaptive Farming Technologies in the Face of Climate Change, and Energy Plant Resources, and introduced the activities implemented at the Climate Management Center at the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology of the Western Ukrainian National University.

Project goal 619119-EPP-1-2020-1-NL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “Synergy of educational, scientific, managerial and industrial components for climate management and mitigation” / CLIMAN (Erasmus+ Program, Neighborhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument, Objective CA2: Capacity Building in Higher Education) is to help universities in Georgia and Ukraine become centers for the development of climate management research to accelerate integration into the global climate market and the implementation of global climate regulation requirements by implementing best European practices in climate change mitigation, adaptation and mitigation.The project is co-financed by the European Union.
