Interdisciplinary training module “Climate Management”: training block “Environmental Safety in Agriculture”

Within the framework of the international project 619119-EPP-1-2020-1-NL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “Synergy of educational, scientific, managerial and industrial components for climate management and climate change prevention” / CLIMAN (Erasmus+ Program, Neighborhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument, Action KA2: Higher Education Capacity Building), the implementation of the Climate Management modulecontinues at the Department of Agribiotechnology of the Western Ukrainian National University.

The Climate Management training module includes the following training blocks:

– Strategic climate management in agriculture;

– environmental safety in agriculture;

adaptive farming technologies in the face of climate change;

– energy plant resources.

In particular, the training block “EnvironmentalSafety in Agriculture” is aimed at forming a system of knowledge about the patterns of environmentally sound development, acquiring practical skills in using environmental management methods to ensure environmentally sound development in agriculture. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Vira Moroz, students have the opportunity to learn about the main theoretical and applied issues of environmentally friendly development, European experience and the current state of solving environmental problems in agriculture.

As a result of completing the educational block “Environmental Safety in Agriculture” within the module “Climate Management”, students will:

  • know the legal and theoretical basis of environmental safety in agronomy in Ukraine and the European Union;
  • have a theoretical basis for the formation of environmental policy and its role in ensuring sustainable development;
  • understand the social, economic and technical aspects of ensuring environmental safety in agronomy in Ukraine and the European Union;
  • be able to apply methods of scientific research and organization of environmental protection activities;
  • Identify and assess possible environmental risks;
  • apply in practice the tools for ensuring environmental safety at the level of agricultural enterprises;
  • have a formed understanding and knowledge of the content and procedure of environmental audit as an important mechanism for preventing negative environmental situations;
  • develop a set of measures to prevent emergencies and organize the elimination of their negative consequences.

The aim of the project 619119-EPP-1-2020-1-NL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “Synergy of educational, scientific, managerial and industrial components for climate management and climate change prevention” / CLIMAN (Erasmus+ Program, Neighborhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument, Objective CA2: Capacity Building in Higher Education) is to help universities in Georgia and Ukraine become centers for the development of climate management research to accelerate integration into the global climate market and the implementation of global climate regulation requirements by implementing best European practices in climate change mitigation, adaptation and mitigation.
