Innovative Learning at ZUNU

In today's world of education, where theoretical learning often prevails, the Western Ukrainian National University (WUNU) is becoming an example of integrating practical experience into the academic process. The University's Research and Training Institute of Business and Law (RTIIL) demonstrates how practice-based learning can effectively complement traditional teaching methods. The focus is on the cultivation of soybeans, a crop that plays a significant role in the global agricultural sector. The students had a unique opportunity to put their knowledge into practice by visiting the Nauka Research and Production Group, which is part of the university. This article offers a detailed overview of their experience and study of soybeans as an important agricultural crop.

Practical Experience

Students of the Institute of Food Science and Technology of ZUNU visited the Research and Production Group "Nauka", where they gained practical experience in growing soybeans. Associate Professor A.O. Vitrovyi held a master class, covering the intricacies of cultivation, processing and use of soybeans. The students appreciated the importance of soybeans in global agriculture and learned about its diverse uses, including food, feed, technical and medical applications.

Harvesting and Processing of Soybeans

The program of the visit also included a hands-on introduction to the soybean harvesting process. The students learned the methods of direct harvesting and setting agrotechnical parameters important for a quality crop. Particular attention is paid to soil preparation before sowing and harvesting techniques, including cutting height and threshing and separation equipment settings. This practical knowledge helped the students to gain a deeper understanding of soybean cultivation and its importance in the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
